Taking Stock of 2020; Lockdown diaries

Spread the love

I cannot believe it’s been one year since I shared something on the blog, I am ashamed that I have been silent this long.

What’s even more shameful is that it took a global pandemic to remind me that I still had this space. Thank you all for accepting me back with open arms and minds.

Taking Stock of 2020; Lockdown diaries

2020 was supposed to be the best year, my year of doing, exploring, experiencing and watching myself grow!

If anyone had told me that what started off as a really good year, would be filled with so much chaos, I would have told them off.

A girl laughing whilst playing in the water on a beach.

Yet here we are smack right in what was supposed to be a great year, the best year and it’s nothing like I imagined. Everyday I am scrambling, hoping, praying and doing all I can to make it out of this turbulent storm unscathed.

Some days I wake up feeling energized, productive, agile, ready to take on the day and other days I wake up tired, broken and scared shitless.

I guess this is a lesson to be more specific when we say “this year will be a movie” to avoid ending up with a 2020.

The New Normal

Almost every country in the world is either in lock down or has just come out of a lock down.

Accra is in the later category, with 1,000+ cases and a lifted lock down.

This lifting of the lockdown has been a new source of worry for me, I can’t shake the feeling that this may be too soon but hopefully time will tell. Thankfully I am yet to go back to work which makes it easier to deal with.

Living daily and doing things that bring me joy is one of the ways I have been able to remain sane.

I have been reading a lot, doing yoga, eating a lot, working sometimes, spending time on social media and planning whenever I can muster up the enthusiasm.

I am hopeful that time will continue to bring better news and a reprieve in this very difficult situation.

Looking forward to

I cannot wait for COVID-19 to be a thing of the past, soon rather than later. I am very hopeful that we can still make something out of this year.

A few things I am looking forward to are:

  • Going to the beach and eating out more frequently, I am excited to take myself on cute dates as often as possible.
  • Going back to work, this time has made me realize just how much I love my job.
  • Traveling more; I am setting a goal to visit all the regions in Ghana before 2022 amongst other travel goals.
  • Launching my Sexual Assault Awareness T-shirt’s and seeing how much impact I can make with it.

  • Living a beautiful beautiful life, seeing my friends and making new connections.
  • Sharing more on the blog; If you are new you can start here

Well here you have it, my first blog for 2020. Thank you for reading.

How have you been coping with all that’s been going on? What is the situation like in your country? Do share.

I’m in Nigeria and the cases are almost at 2000. The lockdown is going to be here for another week from Sunday. We have minimal movement but people still feel the need to break the laws and even government officials are guilty.
Lowkey just watching to see how it’ll end up.

Hi Eno, thank you for reading. It’s really annoying when people don’t follow rules that are meant for their own good and safety. It’s almost as if they are bent on self sabotaging. As of yesterday, we are also officially at over 2,000 cases. Let’s almost time for an address, let’s see what the president has to say.
